MORE ABOUT THE GAME

History

The origins are lost in the mists of time, however Peter Sarrett in the US developed the current incarnation. Frank DiLorenzo and Stacey Merrill at R&R Games then put together and edited the comprehensive list of names, and in 1999 Frank published Times Up!, which went on to win loads of awards and become a best-seller across North America.

In 2005, Mark Johnson was discussing party games with Gary Atkinson, and they decided that a British version of the famous person name game, would go down a storm.

Frank kindly agreed to let Mark develop a special edition for the UK.......

FAQ'S

Is this really a British version?

Yes, it is. The original version from R&R has been comprehensively updated for the UK, this involved removing and replacing over 300 names!

I've played this before, haven't I?

Actually, you might have done. The game itself has been around in various incarnations since Victorian times. It's a version of charades that people played at parties using torn up paper and a hat or bag. Of course with Time's Up! you don't need to prepare anything, just jump right in.

You may know the game as 'spunkyface', 'celebrities, 'who's in the hat', 'the name game' and many more, to us Time's Up! sums it up best....as that's what you'll be shouting!

I'm one of the famous people in the box, can I have a free copy?

Yes you can. Especially if you are Kate Moss.

I've had a great idea for a famous person that isn't in your box, would you like it?

Yes please. We'll have an upgrade in 2006, and we'll be developing an expansion pack. Send us your famous names, and we'll give you a namecheck on the website.

Is the game in the shops?

Expect to see it in all the great independent games shops later in 2006. For now you can get it from Coiledspring and select retailers.

What's in the box?

There are 432 cards, each with two names on. There is also a 30 second sand-timer, score-sheet pad and set of rules.

The rules contain a glossary of all 864 famous names, with a one line biog of each person.

We play by different rules, do you care?

We play by slightly different rules every time. If you've got a great variation, then why not share it with us by email, and we'll add it to this site.
